What will you be doing?

S&W has been serving families and those with significant private wealth since 1881. Across the world and over generations, our advice and services help families protect and pass on their wealth and values.

We provide expert, practical and flexible support as individual as the families we serve. From creation, controls and governance to accounting, tax and technology, our family office experts provide the specialist support families need in the way they want. We can even act as your family office, providing comprehensive services.

Each family office is served by a small, dedicated team and lead expert coordinating services from across S&W's specialists. We build long-term relationships and a detailed knowledge of each family's history, dynamics, goals and wealth, including both personal and business assets.

We're seeking a talented individual to join our Private Wealth & Family Office tax team in Guildford at a Senior Manager or Associate Director level.

As Associate Director in Private Client tax, your responsibilities will include among others

  • Manage a portfolio of personal clients with complex tax affairs, focusing on non-UK domiciled individuals, HNWIs, and some trusts
  • Day to day responsibility for meeting both client and compliance deadlines, monitoring time limits and elections
  • Leading tax planning projects such as non-domicile issues, onshore and offshore trusts (and other structures) and, capital gains and inheritance tax issues
  • Manage HMRC enquiries together with any disclosures to HMRC via the worldwide disclosure facility or the offshore disclosure unit
  • Responsible for billing and monitoring budgets
  • Assist with managing junior member of staff including helping them with technical and personal development
  • Engage in personal business development activities and support business development activities of the team
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have

  • Significant private client tax experience gained within a professional practice
  • ACA/CTA Qualification
  • Demonstrable knowledge of private client tax and associated professional advice
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering tax planning/advisory projects
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and developing client relationships
  • Demonstrable experience of developing new business into profitable long-term client relationships
  • Team and project management skills
