As an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist, you will ensure patients receive their prescriptions accurately, timely and respectfully. You will appropriately select, dose, administer and dispense medications as indicated, helping provide patients with the treatments they need to improve their health and well-being. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers in this role working various shifts between 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. with weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based medication services. 

  • Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations. 

  • Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.

  • Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards. 

  • Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences. 

  • Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • PharmD or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy

  • Inpatient experience

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days (for individuals required to administer immunizations).

  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA). For caregivers required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest, this is required within one year of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Board certification

  • Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience

  • Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area (i.e. Critical Care, Oncology)

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. 

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.

  • Must have normal or corrected vision.

  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
