Head of Finance
Leeds (hybrid working)
An opportunity to make a difference
At Border to Coast our purpose is to make a difference. Our focus is to secure the pensions of over a million people who have provided valuable service to their communities and society. We're the largest pensions asset owner in the UK and the largest asset manager outside London or Edinburgh, and we provide innovative investments that deliver sustainable returns over the long term.
We are entering a defining chapter in our journey. With our 2030 Strategy now in place and new Government standards for pooling on the horizon, we are poised to grow to £110bn of assets under management and evolve into an enhanced regulatory firm. This next phase will demand clarity, resilience, and inclusive financial and strategic leadership.
Head of Finance
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Finance will be responsible for the financial strategy, planning, reporting and operations of Border to Coast, ensuring strong financial governance, regulatory compliance, and insightful reporting to support strategic decision-making and sustainable growth. As we prepare for FCA enhanced regulation, the Head of Finance will play a key role in ensuring our financial governance, capital and liquidity management, and regulatory reporting evolve to meet these heightened expectations.
The Head of Finance will lead a team responsible for key operational functions including: financial reporting, strategic planning, budgetary control, invoicing, project cost control and business case evaluation, corporate treasury and liquidity management, capital management, payroll, corporate taxes, external audit, and cost benchmarking and value for money assessments. You'll also lead the development of financial insight and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making and business planning across the organisation.
We are looking for a hands-on finance leader who thrives on delivery, assurance and building high-performing teams. As a trusted finance professional within a Financial Services environment, you'll bring the experience and insight to navigate complexity and lead with integrity, with a track record in financial planning, budgeting, controls and reporting.
The successful candidate will have a strong record in working collaboratively with business stakeholders, senior leaders, shareholders and customers, demonstrating strong interpersonal and influencing skills with high levels of integrity and trustworthiness.
