Student Statutory Returns Officer
We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
Working within the Academic Registry we are seeking a Student Statutory Returns Officer to join our Student Statutory Returns Team. This role is key in ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality data returns to external bodies as well as providing essential data to internal colleagues. You will support the Student Statutory Returns Manager in collating, reviewing, and quality-checking data, and assist in compiling reports that explain and analyse a range of data sets.
As a Student Statutory Returns Officer, you will assist with the production of the University's statutory data returns and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will monitor data quality within the student records system, working collaboratively with colleagues to resolve issues. The role involves carrying out routine analysis of information and presenting results clearly and accurately. You will stay informed about changes in data reporting requirements from HESA, OfS, and other agencies, and communicate data collection requirements across the University. Additionally, you will support the analysis of data sets and help explain findings to staff, contributing to informed decision-making.
Successful applicants should be educated to RQF Level 3 (A Level or equivalent) or have equivalent experience, with a strong background in information management systems and preparing data returns in a university context. The role requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively while working collaboratively across teams. Proficiency in Excel is essential, and experience with Tribal SITS would be an advantage.
