The Role
This is a classroom-based position supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. Working alongside a skilled and welcoming team, you'll help create a safe, engaging, and tailored learning experience for each child. You'll work 1:1 or in small groups, assisting with communication, sensory regulation, and emotional development – as well as supporting learning both in and outside the classroom.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children with Autism, sensory processing difficulties, and communication needs
- Building trusted, consistent relationships with pupils
- Promoting emotional wellbeing and encouraging independence
- Working in partnership with teaching staff and fellow support workers
- Contributing to a calm, structured, and caring classroom environment
Who We're Looking For
This role would suit someone with experience in care, health, support work, or social services who is ready to bring their transferable skills into a school setting. It's also ideal for those with existing SEN experience looking for a new and rewarding challenge.

The School
This is a well-resourced, specialist setting that caters to pupils with a wide range of complex needs. Staff are passionate, highly skilled, and work closely to ensure every pupil is valued and supported to reach their potential. The school offers excellent facilities and promotes learning through structured routines and holistic, child-centred approaches.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm. Both full-time and part-time applicants are welcome.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
