Oakfield is a company that has for the past 10 years worked within the NHS. However now heavily focuses on providing specialist homes to young people who are leaving hospital and secure services who have suffered trauma and have complex emotional and behavioural needs.

Oakfield is one of the only providers in the country providing such a specialist service and has been unique in achieving meaningful and transformative outcomes for the people it has supported. We provide targeted therapeutic trauma informed care to such young people, leaving their trauma and risk behaviours behind and supporting them to live and thrive in the community, building confidence, independence and achievement.

As a Residential Support Worker you will become an essential part of a young person's life by delivering support that is focused on all aspects of their health, wellbeing, education, independence, and development. You will be responsible for:

  • Working in accordance with our company values of Everyone Matters, Inspire, Teamwork, Resilience, and Excellence & Quality.
  • Providing an outstanding quality of care that is underpinned with the Children's Home Regulations and Quality Standards.
  • Building and maintaining appropriate positive relationships with our children and young people; colleagues; and professionals/outside agencies.
  • Adopting trauma informed therapeutic approach to delivering support.
  • Providing a safe, nurturing, and positive living environment.
  • Providing domestic support within the home.
  • Engaging in meaningful activities that the child or young person enjoys
  • Ensuring our children feel heard and are able to communicate their individual wants, needs and wishes.
  • Managing conflict and challenging behaviour appropriately with the aim of producing positive outcomes.

  • Working shifts as part of a rolling rota (including long shifts; nights; weekends; sleep-ins).
  • Typically staff members complete 48 hours per week comprising of 3 long shifts and 1 sleep shift

Preferred candidates

· Level 3 Diploma Residential Childcare

· Driving licence UK

Experience of a similar role would be beneficial; however, it is not essential because we pride ourselves on facilitating a bespoke learning and development programme that encourages career progression within our organisation and the childcare profession. If you do not hold a Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce upon joining the organisation, you will be supported in obtaining your qualification within the first two years of your employment.
