Job Purpose:

To operate and maintain our digital printing equipment, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality printed product. Additionally, the role includes performing some finishing operations such as cutting, folding, binding, laminating and packaging to prepare products for final delivery for which training will be given.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre Press

· Guillotining stock ready for print

· Process customer & in-house PDF files and impose/layout for print

· Produce printed proofs/mock ups for customers and / or print room use

Printing Operations

  • Operate Xerox digital presses Versant 180 / Versant 280
  • Calibrate and adjust machinery to ensure consistent colour and registration.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the print run and make adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor toner levels, paper stock, and perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance.

Finishing Duties

  • Carry out finishing operations including guillotining, collating, folding, creasing, perforating, numbering, laminating, and binding (wire/comb/spiral).
  • Ensure accurate collation and packaging and labelling of finished goods.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and presentation in final products.
  • Operate finishing equipment safely and efficiently.

General Duties

  • Work collaboratively with others to meet deadlines and client specifications and keep the workflow software up to date.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines.
  • Keep accurate production records and report any issues or delays.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience operating digital printing machines.
  • Familiarity with print finishing equipment and techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of digital print production and paper stocks.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Print Production or equivalent.
  • Experience with Fiery colour management and RIP software, Command Work Station and Impose
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud suite
  • Experience of merging variable data from CSV files into digital print output
  • Training is available from current staff on all aspects of production
