Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General IT Manager to take ownership of the entire IT functions and help lead our organisation towards achieving its strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in IT management and operations, with a focus on server management, information security, and network infrastructure. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, the ability to manage diverse teams, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

As General IT Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of IT across the business. This includes infrastructure, systems, support, cybersecurity, project delivery, and strategic planning. You'll lead a small internal IT team, oversee third-party providers, and work closely with senior management to ensure IT fully supports operational performance and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management and long-term development of the IT function
  • Oversee IT infrastructure, networks, hardware, software, and cloud services
  • Manage and support business-critical systems (e.g. WMS, TMS, ERP)
  • Develop and implement the company's IT roadmap and strategy
  • Deliver IT projects including upgrades, migrations, and new technology rollouts
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Provide hands-on technical support when required and act as an escalation point
  • Manage IT budgets, licensing, and vendor relationships
  • Collaborate with business and operational teams to identify technology improvements

Skills

  • Proficient in server management, network engineering, and computer networking.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and practices.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in supervising teams.
  • Strong project management skills with a focus on delivering results on time.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Organisational skills that enable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Professional certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL) are beneficial
