We’re passionate about driving innovation and redefining the future of delivery.Role overview As Head ofTransport, you will be in charge of the operation of our purely electric eHGV fleet and our Transport Department. You will be able to balance the needs of our parcel collections with our trunking/haulage business to maximise revenue. You are a strong leader that is able to advocate for compliance and safety whilst still maintaining the flexibility needed to support a constantly changing business. You will be innovative and excited by the future of electric technology, as well as a strong problem solver to overcome arising issues.This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring adherence to all Operator’s Licensing requirements, driving fleet efficiency, and leading the transport team to support the company’s ambitious growth trajectory.Responsibilities:Compliance & Legal ResponsibilityHold a valid Transport Manager CPC qualification, to be able to to added as the official Designated Transport Manager on the Company's Operator’s Licence.Ensure full, continuous, and effective control over all transport activities to maintain the company’s good repute and clear record with the Traffic Commissioner.Manage, monitor, and audit systems for driver hours, working time directive, and tachograph analysis, taking corrective action as necessary.Oversee a robust preventative maintenance schedule, ensuring all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with O-Licence standards, including annual testing.Operational Management & EfficiencyLead and develop the transport team, including line management of our transport manager and transport associate.Drive continuous operational efficiency through route optimisation, reducing empty mileage, and maximising vehicle utilisation.Balance competing needs of our haulage and parcel businesses to ensure the needs of both are met within safe parameters.Ensure effective loading/unloading procedures, ensuring compliance with vehicle weight limits and load safety regulations.Manage all accident and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions to mitigate future risk and improve safety standards.Requirements:Essential: Must hold a current, valid, and unrestricted National or International Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage. xpwpeyx A minimum of 10+ years of demonstrable management experience within the transport and logistics industryYou will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth business environment, balancing the need to innovate quickly against safety and complianceA proactive approach to compliance, with a commitment to maintaining high standardsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable with dealing with both drivers and senior leadershipNice to have:Experience working with electric vehiclesPrevious start-up/scale up experienceHow we reward our team Dynamic working environment with a diverse and driven teamHuge opportunity for learning in a high growth environment, with progression opportunities based on success in the role25 days of holiday allowance plus public holidays1 Birthday Day Off + 2 Tenure-Base Additional Days OffSubsidised Private Medical Insurance including dental, vision & mental health therapyBi-annual performance reviews and tailored development plansCompetitive salary + EMI options schemeAnnual compensation reviewTeam lunch provided once a weekQuarterly team socials and annual sports day (HIVED Olympics)Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption policy as day 1 rightCommunity volunteer daysCycle to work schemeDog friendly office and depotsMacBook Air or Windows Laptop (depending on your preference) Want to learn more?
