About your new roleIncrease your chances of an interview by reading the following overview of this role before making an application.Our national Large Loss team provides an expert, experienced legal service dealing with claims involving injuries of the utmost severity and complex technical insurance work. Weightmans’ Large Loss team handles claims reserved at over £350,000, representing over £800 million of client reserves. The claims are varied including Motor, employers’ liability, public liability and product liability. Typical cases involve brain, spinal and amputation injuries and also substantial dependency fatality claims.We are currently recruiting for a Large Loss Lawyer - 2YR PQE to join our Large Loss team.Key duties and responsibilitiesThe successful candidate will manage own workload and assist other lawyers in relation to corporate transactional work and company law advisory work.Assist the partners and manage own caseload of catastrophic and high value PI casesAssist in initial investigations and in reporting to clients/ preparing internal strategy report as appropriateReview and analyse databases and make further investigations as appropriateLiaise with other solicitors, insurers, police, HSE and witnesses to gather evidenceInstruct various experts as appropriateControl Case Manager Diary and action listsAttend at court hearings as appropriateAttend conferences and JSMs as directed by partner, subject to client approvalDraft letters, reports, reserve sheets and action plans as directedAssist with the management, supervision and development of more junior members of the teamComplete client and firm MI proceduresComply with Data Protection Compliance and ProceduresComply with CPR and rehabilitation protocolKeep up to date with legal developments in high value personal injuryAchieve set financial and chargeable targets/KPIsEnsure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered toComply with relevant Weightmans and client policies and proceduresWork in accordance with Weightmans’ valuesThis list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role.About YouIdeally you will have previous experience of working in a similar role and in a similar environment. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We are also looking for you to have:2 years PQE solicitorExperience of managing a defendant personal injury litigation caseload (either Motor or EL/PL preferred).
