OverviewThe Senior / Principal FPGA engineer would be responsible for design and development of FPGA designs using VHDL and verifying designs using VHDL or System Verilog.ResponsibilitiesCreating innovative and robust VHDL-based designsDocumenting and recording deliverablesVerifying FPGA designsEnsuring configuration management/keeping designs under revision controlProviding progress reportsWork ExperienceSkills, Qualifications and Experience requiredMandatoryAt least 5 years’ experience of developing FPGA using VHDL or VerilogExperienced with Mentor Graphics FPGA development tools including HDL Designer, ModelSim / Questa and PrecisionFamiliar with Xilinx / Intel (Altera) / Microsemi (Actel) design flows (ISE, Vivado, Quartus) and third-party synthesis toolsExperience in specifying timing and area constraints for efficient FPGA Place and RouteIndependent verification using VHDLExperience of FPGA requirements capture and requirements management toolsA good understanding of FPGA version control and revision control softwareExperience of making technical decisions and mitigating technical risk for FPGA design activitiesAbility to coordinate day to day technical activities, liaising closely with the Project Engineering Lead / Lead FPGA engineer & other disciplinesExcellent communication (oral & written) & interpersonal skillsAbility to analyse system and / or hardware level requirements and derive detailed FPGA requirementsDe-bugging FPGA designs and supporting integration & verification at hardware and system levelExperience with High-Speed Serial protocols and implementationsLinux and scripting experienceExperience in writing technical reports/ documentationDesirableDevelopment of real-time, embedded, safety-critical FPGA, preferably in accordance with xpwpeyx RTCA/DO-254 DAL A or BIndependent verification using SystemVerilog / UVMRelevant experience in the Aerospace or Defence industryExperience of embedded processor cores (e.g. ARM) in FPGA designsFamiliarity with latest FPGA device familiesPractical experience with agile methodologyLocationEdinburgh, UKQualificationsHonours degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or another STEM-based subjectUK citizenship is mandatory to be able to clear the background checks and obtain SC clearanceCurrent valid SC clearance would be an advantage#J-18808-Ljbffr
