For more information visit Brief DescriptionTo lead regional security and crime engagement on matters relating to regional based security and crime compliance, working closely with the British Transport Police, Department for Transport and Train Operating Companies to mitigate train delays as a result of Route crime and improve performance.About The Role (External)Some of the key accountabilities of this role are: Develop and manage the Region’s crime, security and resilience strategies to reduce railway crime by developing a security culture across the Region. Maintain security and emergency plans and procedures in line with statutory requirements by developing a security culture across the Region. Lead on performance improvement processes for the Region by developing improvement initiatives to reduce overall delays that are associated with Route crime and Schedule 8. Collaborate with and advise Region and Route leads on continuous improvement relating to crime or security issues, incident management and disruption to improve incident management and mitigate disruption by facilitating debriefs following significant incidents relating to security. Influence and advise the Region and Route leads on the development (including templates and associated Standards and guidance) of security and contingency plans to mitigate incidents and the loss of high level of security by developing and implementing standards to prevent major incidents that may have otherwise resulted in reputational damage, loss of safety records and costs associated. Lead regional development and implementation of an annual programme of planned exercises to test the effectiveness of security and contingency arrangements. Monitor Regional performance against the programme and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders; operations leads within the Routes, TOCs and external agencies such as the British Transport Police and DfT. Coordinate and maintain a programme of physical security risk assessments and associated security or emergency plans to identify and assess potential failings in security arrangements within Network Rail sites; particularly those identified as Critical National Infrastructure. Provide specialist advice and challenge in the external fields of policing, criminal procedures and security, representing the executive leadership team and Region by providing detailed understanding of the complex crime and security procedures and policies in order to make appropriate challenge at senior level. Lead the Region on the development of Network Rail’s regional response to significant sporting and cultural events in order to provide an effective operational response by advising the Route leads, including stations. Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders by providing crime and security performance improvement expertise to deliver improved outcomes for the Region.
