About The RoleBe one of the first applicants, read the complete overview of the role below, then send your application for consideration.Balfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to drive the Digital Transformation on our Connect Plus Services M25 joint venture – Europe’s busiest motorway network. This position will be central to delivering strategic change programmes and devising innovative solutions to meet evolving business needs. You will hold accountability for the IT architecture underpinning the M25 systems and lead the development of a comprehensive roadmap, aligned with established architecture principles, to enhance and future‑prove the organisation’s technology landscape.ResponsibilitiesDelivery of enterprise architecture processes and principles.Development of an enterprise architecture methodology, including key artefacts.Capture enterprise architecture decisions, providing logic and proposing plans to mitigate impacts.Regular updates on progress made and status reporting to the Head of Business Transformation and Business Planning Director.Run and manage the Technical Design Authority (TDA) to review proposed technical solutions and focus on bespoke solutions to ensure effective coding and security considerations.Support key governance forums, such as the Change Board, and provide regular contributions to the Portfolio Review Meeting.Identification, reporting and tracking of architecture risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating as required.QualificationsExperience successfully running enterprise architecture for small and medium‑sized organisations.Strong understanding of established architectural frameworks.Experience supporting delivery of technical solutions and ensuring compliance with business requirements.Presenting updates at complex governance forums.Engaging senior‑level stakeholders and obtaining buy‑in.Developing an enterprise architecture strategy organisation‑wide, along with a roadmap, and communicating this to the business.Shaping enterprise architecture initiatives and activities.Understanding of the M25 business, digital technology and its application.Engaging third‑party suppliers to understand their technical solutions and development roadmaps.Interdependency identification and tracking.Management of technical debt.Familiarity with architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).Technical proficiency in data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, MS SQL Server), BI tools (e.g., Power BI) and scripting (SQL, Python/R).DesirableInformation Security experience and understanding of NIS (Network and Information Systems) regulations and ISO27001 accreditation.BenefitsSmart working, including staggered start and finish times, with up to 40 % remote working where roles allow.25 days paid annual leave (pro rata).Family‑friendly policies including 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partner leave.Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and more.About UsConnect Plus Services (CPS) brings together the collective strength of our parent companies – Balfour Beatty, Atkins and Egis Road Operation UK.
