As they continue to expand their specialist consultancy services, we are seeking to appoint a Principal Energy & Sustainability Consultant to play a key leadership role in delivering strategic, high-impact sustainability outcomes across major development and regeneration projects.This is a standout opportunity for an established sustainability specialist to step into a client-facing leadership role, supporting the growth of service lines, mentoring emerging consultants, and helping to shape the industry’s response to climate, carbon and building performance challenges.The RoleAs Principal Consultant, you will lead a portfolio of technical consultancy work across energy strategy, Part L compliance, sustainability frameworks, carbon reduction, circular economy planning and wider environmental advisory. Working closely with clients, design teams, planners and developers, you will influence key project decisions from early concept stage through delivery, ensuring robust, future-proof sustainability outcomes.You will also play a central role in guiding junior team members, contributing to service development, and strengthening client relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical DeliveryLead and deliver energy, sustainability, carbon and circular economy consultancy services.Maintain strong working knowledge of relevant regulations, planning policy, building standards and industry codes.Produce clear, high-quality reports, strategies, and technical presentations.Apply creative problem-solving to unlock value and deliver robust technical outcomes.Demonstrate expert-level capability in at least two specialist service areas.Project ManagementLead multidisciplinary project teams from planning through to completion.Plan, manage and deliver work to deadlines, scope and commercial targets.Use internal systems and forward planning techniques to maintain clear project oversight.Client & Business DevelopmentAct as a day-to-day client lead across multiple high-profile projects.Contribute to the expansion of sustainability service offerings alongside senior leadership.Prepare and present fee proposals and support business development activity.Leadership & Professional DevelopmentSupport training and mentoring of junior colleagues.Work towards or maintain professional membership and chartership status.Promote best practice in sustainability, building safety and health & safety compliance.About YouStrong experience across sustainability, energy or carbon consultancy.Proven ability to lead client relationships and technical project delivery.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.A proactive, analytical and solutions-focused approach.Commitment to continual learning and professional growth.Chartered or actively working towards Chartership (CIBSE, IEMA, RICS, ICE or similar) is strongly preferred. xpwpeyx Ready to take your career to the next level?
