To ensure the continued delivery of high‑quality Obstetric and Gynaecological care to patients within the Trust and community, enthusiastic candidates with experience in general obstetrics and gynaevology with a special interest in Gynae‑Oncology are welcomed to join the existing team of consultants and complement the existing service provision in general gynaecology and obstetrics services.A range of general and specialist obstetrics and gynaecological services are offered led by the consultants and supported by doctors, nurses and midwives. These include urogynaecology, gynae‑oncology, ambulatory (out‑patient) gynaecology, early pregnancy assessment, colposcopy, high‑risk obstetrics and intrapartum care.Main duties of the jobThe appointed consultant will contribute to the ongoing service improvement programmes, Maternity Culture Transformation and elective restoration pathway by implementing evidence‑based new ways of working when necessary.The post holder will provide dedicated emergency cover for the Delivery Suite (labour ward) and emergency gynaecology separately during the day and will participate in the on‑call rota overnight and weekends on a 1:10 rota (subject to change). The post involves on‑call sessions on the Labour Ward to achieve the desired 60 hours consultant presence recommended by RCOG. The post‑holder is expected to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues as per the policy. The appointee will be required to supervise, train and assess junior medical and other staff on a day‑to‑day basis.
