If you are a dynamic senior designer with a flair for bold ideas, a passion for brand storytelling, and the leadership skills to inspire a high-performing team, we’d love to hear from you.Role InformationLeading the Design and Production team, you’ll deliver sector-leading work that is original, impactful and strategically aligned – spanning digital channels, print media, campaigns, events and more. Alongside, you’ll drive the University’s creative direction, championing our brand and sub-brands across multiple audiences and touchpoints. You’ll inspire excellence, shape visual brand strategy, present concepts to senior leaders, and ensure all visual communication strengthens our identity while supporting engagement, recruitment and reputation-building goals.Main Activities And ResponsibilitiesLead the creation of high-quality digital and print design that showcases the UniversityManage, mentor and develop the Design and Production teamOversee briefs, workflows and quality assurance to ensure timely, on‑brand deliveryChampion and implement brand and sub‑brand guidelines and toolkits across the UniversityPresent creative concepts confidently to senior stakeholdersCollaborate with colleagues across Marketing, Recruitment and Communications on integrated outputsCommission and direct photography and other creative services, as neededManage supplier relationships and approve proofs to maintain quality and consistencySupport key University activities, including student recruitment events and ClearingDeputise for the Associate Director of Brand and Creative Marketing when neededEssential Experience And SkillsDegree‑level qualification in graphic design or related field (or equivalent experience)Proven experience in a senior design role across print and digitalStrong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and good knowledge of MS OfficeUnderstanding of digital design, including mobile best practiceExperience leading and motivating a creative teamHigh attention to detail, strong visual communication skills and creative flairConfident presenting to senior leaders and advising non‑specialist colleaguesExperience directing photography and managing creative briefsProven ability to develop and implement brand guidelinesDesirableExperience in the higher education sectorContactFor more information or to book a consultation, please email: sophie.chamings@bcu.ac.ukThe appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University.
