We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.Band 6 Specialist Mental Health NurseSpecialist Children’s Services – West CAMHSLocation: West Centre, DrumchapelHours: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 6 Specialist Mental Health Nurse to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) community team within Specialist Children’s Services. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people, and their families within a defined geographical area, providing care for those experiencing moderate to severe psychiatric and neuro‑developmental disorders, as well as complex vulnerabilities affecting daily life.Please be advised that, effective 1 April 2026, the full‑time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake joint assessments and develop comprehensive treatment plans in partnership with children, young people, and their families/carers.Deliver individualised, evidence‑based interventions, adopting a systemic approach that considers the young person’s wider social and educational background.Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary and multi‑agency teams, including education and other service providers.Participate in regular clinical and line management supervision.Provide line management and clinical supervision to junior nursing staff.Contribute to the ongoing personal and professional development of the Band 6 Nurse role within the team.Essential Skills and AttributesFirst‑level registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disability Nurse with current NMC registration.Significant post‑registration experience, ideally with transferable skills from CAMHS or adult mental health settings.Strong communication, organisational, and team‑working skills.Ability to work independently within agreed parameters and demonstrate initiative.Understanding of family, community and social systems, with knowledge of factors influencing mental health and emotional well‑being.Commitment to equality, dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity in all aspects of care.Willingness to continued learning and development.DesirableDirect CAMHS experience.Evidence of continued professional development and willingness to participate in our robust CAMHS training programme, including Essential CAMHS training for those new to the service.The applicant should ideally also be a car owner and hold a full driving licence.You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.Informal contact: Carolyn Denham, Clinical Coordinator – email Carolyn.denham@nhs.scot.Details on how to contact the Recruitment Service and the Recruitment Process:This post may close early due to high volume.
