Our ethos of CARE guides us: Compassionate, trauma‑informed, and supportive care Evidence‑based care with high‑quality outcomes Respect for patients’ cultural and religious beliefs Empowerment and holistic care planning for self‑management of wellbeing Job Summary The Advanced Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ANP/ACP) is a highly skilled professional who provides clinical consultations and remote medication prescriptions via telemedicine platforms, video calls, or secure online systems. The role requires advanced clinical knowledge, deep understanding of prescribing laws, and the ability to work independently in assessing, diagnosing, and managing patient conditions while maintaining patient confidentiality. Key Responsibilities Receive handover from Paramedics for patients requiring follow‑up care. Conduct preliminary patient examinations to ascertain condition. Maintain accurate, detailed electronic health records and comply with data protection regulations (Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR). Document all interactions and prescribe medications in a clear, timely, and legally compliant manner. Make ethical, evidence‑based decisions and interventions, assessing and managing associated risks. Review pathology results where appropriate and develop clear care plans. Prescribe medications in accordance with current clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements, ensuring safety and clinical justification. Adhere to relevant legislation: Medicines Act 1968, Controlled Drugs Regulations, NMC regulations. Prescribe acutely for clinical conditions following NICE guidelines and local protocols. Demonstrate technology proficiency in telemedicine platforms, EHR, SystmOne, and related technologies. Maintain prescribing competencies and comply with national policies on safer prescribing. Promote harm reduction strategies for blood‑borne virus prevention. Provide advice, guidance, and leadership regarding health and substance misuse needs. Administer treatment within local guidelines and maintain competency limits. Refer or sign‑post patients to appropriate health professionals and services. Understand scope of role and identify development opportunities. Monitor and evaluate clinical practice through audit and formal evaluations, leading changes to improve clinical care and staff satisfaction. Participate in clinical supervision and take responsibility for personal learning and performance. Prioritise workload, embed effective time‑management strategies, and commit to quality improvement. Maintain high levels of confidentiality in accordance with DrPA Secure policy. Identify, manage, and report health and safety risks, update knowledge through training, and contribute to the clinical risk management agenda. Support equality, diversity, and rights of patients and colleagues, acting in a welcoming and non‑judgmental manner. Take responsibility for personal and professional development, support the expansion of the ANP role, and maintain NMC registration and ANP competencies. Effectively communicate within the team and with other providers, recognising the importance of communication and conflict resolution. Essential Criteria Accredited advanced nurse practice programme or substantial autonomous practice experience, with an appropriate post‑registration qualification at degree or MSc level. Independent prescriber status. Evidence of continued professional development at master’s level, including delivery of evidence‑based care. Substantial autonomous practice and multiprofessional team working experience. Demonstrable experience of ANP competencies (RCN/National). Broad and sound knowledge of complex and common adult conditions. Significant experience working in complex environments, such as nurse‑led clinics, emergency care centres, out‑of‑hours facilities, walk‑in centres, or general practice. Experience as an independent prescriber, leading change in clinical/prescribing practice. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to take a concise history and demonstrate differential diagnosis skills at an advanced level. Ability to maintain contemporaneous clinical records. Ability to use initiative and work as a team member, fostering positive relationships. Positive attitude to change and resilient in challenging situations. Non‑judgemental, courteous, and respectful attitude. Flexible approach to work patterns and locations. Desirable Criteria RCGP Certificate in the Management of Drug Misuse (Parts 1 or 2). Accredited nursing leadership course. Experience working within a secure environment. Experience working with vulnerable groups. Benefits Pension salary scheme.
