Responsibilities and duties of the Multi-Skilled Technician role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will:

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment across the power station.
Prioritise electrical maintenance tasks while supporting basic mechanical activities when required.
Diagnose, repair, and test electrical faults on motors, drives, switchgear, and auxiliary systems.
Assist during plant outages and shutdowns, ensuring safe and timely completion of maintenance work.
Inspect and maintain electrical assets to comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Support site safety initiatives, including hazard reporting and participation in incident investigations.
Update maintenance records and work orders accurately within the CMMS.
Follow electrical procedures and safe systems of work, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
Identify and report equipment reliability issues and contribute to continuous improvement.
Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to maintain plant availability and performance.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

Holds a level 3 qualification and is apprentice trained in relevant subject
A further engineering qualification, such as a HNC is desirable
At least three years' experience in maintenance, in a heavy process environment/sector or similar (e.g. power station, chemical plant, paper mill, refinery, steel works etc).
Ideally an IOSH or Health & Safety Qualification

Personal skills

Ability to carry out lone-working and self-motivated
Has a problem-solving attitude and works efficiently
Takes a proactive approach to prevent faults.

Salary and benefits of the Multi-Skilled Technician role

Competitive salary between £45,000 and £50,000
