Aviation Safety Officer

As the Aviation Safety Officer, you will move beyond support to take ownership of safety-related activities. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of safety reporting, leading trend analysis, and acting as a key focal point for safety culture across the organisation. You will conduct investigations, liaise with external regulatory bodies, and drive safety initiatives that ensure Airbus Helicopters UK operates at the highest standard of safety and compliance. You will deliver the following consistently and efficiently, setting a standard of excellence in how we work, interact, and behave. Responsibilities Safety Management: Manage the processing and assessment of Safety Reports, ensuring timely closure and feedback. Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of Safety Report data to establish trends, identify risks, and recommend focused preventative actions. Documentation: Author, amend, and manage Company safety documentation and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Investigations: Lead and conduct internal investigations regarding maintenance errors (MEDA) and operational occurrences. Regulatory Liaison: Manage the submission and follow-up of CAA MOR and MAA DASOR investigations. Safety Promotion: Design, lead, and implement Safety, Quality, and Compliance promotion campaigns to enhance company-wide safety culture. Projects: Actively participate in and lead Company safety projects as required. Generic Behaviours Working as one Team: Collaborating across departments to achieve organisational goals. Innovation: A positive attitude toward change and a willingness to learn and adapt. Aviation Safety training and supporting qualification (e.g., relevant higher-level Apprenticeship). Recognised Aviation Safety Management Systems training. Experience & Knowledge Experience: Proven experience in an aviation engineering or safety-related environment. Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of relevant Regulations and Standards (CAA/MAA). Systems: Experience in supporting or managing an effective Management System (SMS/QMS). Technical background: Engineering-related education and/or relevant industry experience. IT Proficiency: Experienced in the use of MS Office and/or Google Workspace applications for data analysis and reporting. Desirables Formal training in Aviation Safety or Accident Investigation. Experience with specific safety databases or reporting software. HNC qualification in a related subject, OR equivalent industry experience/relevant Apprenticeship. Good grades in at least five GCSEs (including Mathematics and English). Autonomous: Able to work with autonomy to manage your own workload efficiently. Communicator: Excellent general communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels. Problem Solver: Able to work with other departments to ensure corrective and preventative actions are effective and implemented on time. Integrity: Honest, open-minded, and respectful of diverse working environments. Motivated: Self-driven with a desire for success and continuous improvement. Flexible: Willing to travel within the UK as required. Additional Requirements Security: Due to the nature of this position, you must be eligible for DBS Security Clearance and Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, ideally at the Security Check (SC) level. Compliance: Applicants must meet all requirements of Export Compliance Regulations. Documentation: Hold a valid driving licence and a valid passport.
