Clinical Research Nurse We are searching for a Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) to join our expanding Surgical and Anaesthetic research team. The role involves the complete lifecycle of clinical trials across the surgical specialty, from feasibility assessment to patient recruitment, data management and audit, all within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities Work autonomously in all areas of clinical research practice. Understand and deliver care in accordance with regulatory‑approved clinical research protocols. Obtain NHS permissions (R&D approval) before patient recruitment begins. Participate in clinical trial feasibility studies and risk assessments. Ensure all trial activities are recorded in appropriate systems on time. Identify and implement strategies to meet regional and national recruitment targets. Delegate and oversee research‑related activities to the research team, ensuring SOP and ICH/GCP compliance. Arrange and facilitate clinical trial meetings and financial remunerations for trial activity. Communicate complex trial information clearly to patients, families and colleagues. Contribute to the development and review of specialist care pathways. Maintain high standards of patient safety and wellbeing, ensuring compliance with ICH/GCP and Trust SOPs. Support the safe administration of all licensed and unlicensed medicinal products in trials. Assist in monitoring and audit activities within the research team. Act as the primary contact for trial patients and advise other healthcare professionals. Carry out non‑medical prescribing where within scope and policy (optional). Qualifications Registered General Nurse – NHS Reg Nursing & Midwifery Council. First degree or relevant clinical experience. Experience Experience of oncology nursing. Experience of working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Evidence of service improvement. Experience of working in a clinical research environment (desirable). Skills Highly effective communication skills. Advanced organisational skills. Good written and analytical skills. Ability to manage work autonomously and meet deadlines. IT proficiency – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Good presentation skills (desirable). Intra‑venous access and cannulation skills for IV chemotherapy (desirable). Knowledge Knowledge of the clinical trial process. Knowledge of ICH‑GCP and research governance framework. Knowledge of NHS and professional policies relating to the specialist area. Knowledge of Research Ethics Committees (desirable). Knowledge of the purpose of clinical research (desirable). Values Demonstrate organisational values and behaviours. Other Maintain professional development and remain aware of current nursing issues. Show flexibility in working hours. Assertiveness (desirable).
