We manage important environmental monitoring systems and datasets. You’ll join a multi‑disciplinary team supporting and learning from colleagues while analysing and improving data that underpins our work. As a Technical Officer you will help manage these systems and data and provide support to users. You will fulfil a multi‑purpose role, working on our Water Quality systems and data, but will be expected to support other systems and data as needed. You will work closely with team members and may be involved in: Setting up and managing users Supporting users and resolving issues, especially when we move to our new My Environment application Updating, improving and maintaining datasets Responding to internal and external data requests Supporting system improvement and upgrade projects If you have a passion for working with data/systems, a desire to improve our way of working and are keen to develop and learn new skills, this could be the role for you. Experience / Skills Required Experience of working with large complex datasets Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems A motivated, organised, friendly and helpful person with an eye for detail, comfortable in a dispersed team environment Proactive and enjoys solving problems Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer service Other Desirable Experience / Skills Experience of using and managing environmental monitoring data systems Experience of Power BI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online and R Working knowledge of water quality monitoring Work location is flexible, but you must have a base at one of our offices across England and have a presence there. Hybrid home/office is offered, but some travel is expected for meetings. We expect to hold interviews via MS Teams towards the end of December / beginning of January.
