Senior Advisor – UK BAT (Job ID: 32438) Join the Environment Agency as a Senior Advisor in the UK BAT team, supporting the development of environmental standards that reduce emissions across the UK. Job Summary As a key member of the UK BAT team, you will support the drafting of BAT Conclusions, liaise with Technical Working Groups, and present final documents suitable for publication as UK-wide environmental standards. The role requires strong project management, coordination of technical authors, and a capacity to review data and arguments critically. Responsibilities Support the preparation of BAT Conclusions and corresponding technical documents. Liaise with Technical Working Groups and industry stakeholders. Coordinate and manage the work of technical authors. Review and critically assess arguments, data, and documentation. Maintain project schedules and deliver on agreed timelines. Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and policy. Present final documents to the Standards Council and other audiences. Support incident management objectives and attend training as required. Qualifications and Experience At least 5 years of working experience in environmental regulation across industrial sectors. Solid knowledge of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, including the IED and Environmental Permitting Regulations. Experience coordinating and reviewing publication of technical documents. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Project planning, prioritisation, and organisational skills. Capability to build consensus and respond flexibly to challenges. Knowledge of BAT implications in permits and on industry. Skills and Competencies Effective communication with stakeholders. Willingness to travel and attend overnight stays as required.
