The successful appointee will be expected to have a clinical and research role within the EDS service. They will see patients under supervision of the EDS consultants to develop their learning and training in EDS and related inherited connective tissue conditions. They will also be involved in research regarding rare, monogenic EDS under the supervision of the EDS lead. This post is a full‑time, fixed‑term role delivering clinics and research involving rare, monogenic EDS and requires a strong interest or experience in inherited connective tissue conditions. It is suitable for registrar level clinicians in rheumatology, clinical genetics, cardiology, dermatology or other relevant specialties including vascular surgery. The main base for the post will be the EDS service at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. Responsibilities After a period of observing clinics, prepare information for the following week’s clinics and, with supervision, begin seeing patients independently. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out two clinics per week. Depending on previous experience, observe consultations to learn techniques of clinical assessment including examination, genetic counselling, pedigree drawing and risk estimation. Discuss cases with genetic counsellors to develop counselling skills. Attend clinical meetings and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, contributing to the presentation and discussion of complex cases. Contribute to recruitment to the neEDS study, scientific publications in the EDS service and preparation of grant applications.
