Trust Grade Registrar in Emergency Medicine This job is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine and enter CESR training (further information below) if deemed suitable by a faculty panel meeting, with the objective to achieving Consultant rank after review of the candidate’s portfolio by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. The role involves 6‑9 months working as a junior registrar, during which the doctor will attend our in‑house leadership training programme and become senior ED decision makers. Following a maximum of 12 months in the post, the post holder will be expected to lead the department (including at night) and would have the opportunity to enter the CESR training programme, subject to selection via a local faculty group meeting. Doctors who are not leading the department at night by 18 months of joining will be supported in finding more suitable roles within the NHS. An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Trust Grade Registrar doctor to join the Emergency Department at London North West University Hospitals (Northwick Park & Ealing Hospital). The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the care of patients in the Emergency Department (ED). They will have direct responsibility for the management of patients. There is 08:00 to 00:00 Emergency Medicine Consultant presence at both departments, and additional night cover from Friday to Monday at Northwick Park Hospital. Outside these hours one of the middle grade doctors is designated to undertake the ‘lead role’ and works in close liaison with the nurse co‑ordinator to ensure the department runs efficiently. A ‘Rapid Assessment Triage’ facilitates more efficient processing of patients who are deemed not likely to require admission. In addition to main shop‑floor duties the successful candidate will also participate in the care of patients in the Clinical Decision Unit, incorporating Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). The wide range of clinical interfaces provides a stimulating and rewarding experience for the clinician with ample opportunity for training.
