We need an experienced rail modelling and simulation analyst, especially familiar with Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and AnyLogic, to act as a UK-based expert and support a wide range of rail modelling and simulation projects. Responsibilities Serve as a visible presence in the UK and international rail industry, acting as the key point of contact with clients and promoting AnyLogic as a required tool. Lead innovation in AnyLogic use and strengthen the range of analyses we can perform to develop innovative solutions to complex rail problems. Develop AnyLogic and analytical skills of junior team members and support the Railway Operations Planning Technical Discipline Lead in managing and growing the technical competencies of the team. Create high‑quality proposals for AnyLogic work, meeting client requirements and contributing to win opportunities collaboratively with internal stakeholders. Guide the technical delivery of AnyLogic work from inception to close‑out within time and budget, ensuring that WSP Quality Assurance processes are applied prior to finalisation. Work closely with clients to scope modelling requirements, obtain necessary inputs, and undertake data analysis and preparation. Produce professional quality proposals, reports and presentations to influence client outcomes and decision‑making. Lead lessons‑learned and knowledge sharing within the team, promote good practice for AnyLogic modelling, and engage across projects and industry events. Engage with counterparts in other WSP territories to share technical expertise, identify win opportunities and resource sharing. What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate Engineering, mathematics or computer science related degree and professional registration with experience in rail simulation & modelling and DES. Familiarity with engineering design software, simulation software, coding and data analysis tools, ideally including AnyLogic. Logical reasoning and systematic problem‑solving skills; proactive response to problems and sound logic in ambiguous situations. Strong presentation skills and the ability to influence and persuade internally and externally. Forward‑thinking mindset capable of visualising and planning for the longer term. Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders. Attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, delivery, budget, professional growth and continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Industrial / Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline. Don’t quite meet all the criteria?
