Job Overview As a member of Spectrum Community Health the post holder will be responsible for delivering a pharmacy service at HMP Frankland in line with GPhC standards and recommendations outlined in "A pharmacy service for prisoners" and ‘Safer Prescribing in Prisons’. This will involve the overall organisation, planning and co‑ordination of all pharmacy services on‑site. The post holder will work with the Medicines Management Pharmacist, other Spectrum Specialist Prison Pharmacists, Lead GP, other GPs and the prison to ensure prison pharmacy services are of the highest quality and successfully integrated into Spectrum Community Health. In line with the well‑being model of healthcare at HMP Frankland the post holder, through a partnership approach, will also help patients to optimise their medicines by tailoring medicines and support to the individual patient needs. They will also identify unmet pharmaceutical need, and assist in improving access and service efficiency including a reduction in wasted medicines. Key Responsibilities Deliver pharmacy service at HMP Frankland in line with GPhC standards. Overall organisation, planning and co‑ordination of all on‑site pharmacy services. Work with Medicines Management Pharmacist, Spectrum Specialist Prison Pharmacists, Lead GP, other GPs and prisons to ensure high quality integration into Spectrum Community Health. Help patients optimise medicines by tailoring medicines and support to individual needs while identifying unmet pharmaceutical need, improving access and service efficiency, including reduction in wasted medicines. Plan, organise and coordinate staff and pharmacy services at HMP Frankland. Ensure pharmaceutical care is consistently delivered in accordance with the Medicines Act, GPhC guidance, Commissioner service specification and recommendations from "A pharmacy service for prisoners" and ‘Safer Prescribing for Prisoners’. Encourage development of better medicines management understanding throughout wider healthcare and prison team, promote good practice in line with therapeutic developments in all prescribing decisions. Assist Prison Health Care team in achieving NSF targets, NICE implementation, medicines management initiatives and introduction of electronic prescribing. Work across North East sites when required.
