Responsibilities The post holder will carry out accurate visual acuity testing of patients. Correctly administer anaesthetic and dilation eye drops prior to retinal photography according to departmental protocol. Be aware of possible undesirable effects of dilating drops and provide patient education regarding these. Take high‑quality, correctly aligned photographs, guiding eye position using external fixation where possible. Accurately grade images according to screening programme requirements, sending results to patients and their GPs as directed by the clinical lead. Deal with patients sympathetically and tactfully whilst maintaining confidentiality. Work evening and weekend hours in this role (for a Trainee Diabetic eye screener). Agenda for Change conditions will apply. Qualifications and Experience Previous photographic and/or diagnostic imaging experience is desirable. Applicants may be considered for a temporary position, with duration specified in the advert. If the vacancy becomes permanent, the successful applicant may not need to re‑apply and can be slotted into the role on a permanent basis if appropriate. High‑Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary, with a minimum payment of £1,258 and a maximum of £2,121 per annum pro rata.
