Consultant Geriatrician with an interest in Orthogeriatrics Barts Health NHS Trust, Whipps Cross Hospital – we are seeking two full‑time Consultant Geriatricians for our Older People’s Services team. These posts offer an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and develop new models of care for older people attending the hospital and in the local community. Whipps Cross Hospital serves a frail population and is being developed as a centre for Geriatric medicine. Main Duties As part of the development of Whipps Cross as a centre for frailty, the hospital has been a centre of excellence for fragility fracture care. You will contribute to the transformation of both the hospital and care pathways, working to provide gold‑standard care for frail elderly patients and other orthopaedic patients with fragility fractures. You must hold full registration with the GMC and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of obtaining CCST. Person Specification Qualifications Must be on the GMC specialist register for Geriatric Medicine or within six months of CCT Full GMC Registration with licence to practice Evidence of participation in research (peer‑reviewed publications, etc.) Appropriate higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD or equivalent) Experience Higher specialist training in Geriatrics and G(I)Medicine Broad experience in Geriatrics and G(I)M Current ALS certificate Ability to organise and deliver a teaching programme Experience in Service Development Knowledge Detailed knowledge of Geriatrics and G(I)M and of the specialist skills required for this post Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to life‑long learning Skills Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team Experience of supervising medical staff Ability to teach medical students and junior medical and nursing staff Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies Others Flexible and co‑operative approach to colleagues Self‑motivated with an enquiring, critical approach to work Good leadership skills Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national level Prepared to live within 10 miles or 30 minutes of Whipps Cross Hospital Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
