Role SummarySherfield Oaks Golf Club seeks a driven and customer‑focused Golf Operations & Membership Sales Manager to lead front‑of‑house golf operations, deliver exceptional service, and drive membership growth. This role reports directly to the General Manager. Key Responsibilities Daily golf operations management – oversee all day‑to‑day golf operations to ensure smooth course flow and exceptional member and guest experience. Optimise tee‑sheet utilisation and enforce pairing policy to maximise capacity and revenue. Manage, schedule, and motivate Golf Operations Assistants. Ensure effective use of Golf Manager software for bookings, member services, reporting, and communication. Maintain retail stock levels and presentation standards; manage rental equipment and ensure safe operation. Lead and train the operations team to deliver consistently high service standards and act as primary point of contact for members. Support competition and event delivery in collaboration with General Manager, Captains, and Competition Committee. Manage golf day and society bookings, maximise ancillary revenue, and monitor key revenue lines. Control labour costs, adhere to budgets, and identify profitability opportunities. Own membership sales process, achieve revenue targets, and build strong relationships with members. Generate leads, represent club at industry events, and conduct outbound calls as needed. Stay informed on industry trends, provide sales reports, and contribute to marketing materials. Requirements Demonstrable experience in golf operations management and membership or commercial sales. Strong customer service skills and ability to manage challenging situations. In‑depth knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and industry trends. Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities with focus on operational excellence. Experience managing budgets, interpreting P&L data, and making commercially‑driven decisions. Proven record of achieving revenue targets and improving sales performance. Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. Proficient with management software, CRM systems, and general IT tools. Approach & Behaviours Proactive, results‑driven, and commercially minded. Capable of working independently and making sound operational decisions. Flexible with willingness to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays when required. Strong work ethic, understanding of the pace and demands of golf club operations. Effective storyteller and communicator able to convey key messages clearly.
