Blyth Riverside Resource Centre Care Worker Permanent (Monday to Friday 6hrs per day 9am to 3pm) The role: The successful applicant will join a team of staff at the Blyth Riverside Resource Centre providing care and support to adults with learning difficulties. You will be expected to promote the wellbeing, self‑confidence and independence of service users, providing activities that meet their needs and interests, creating opportunities for social contact and learning that support service users to access and make best use of local community facilities. In your day‑to‑day duties you will provide care and support to service users who attend the Day Centre, assisting the supervisory team in the delivery of the Centre's timetable of activities. You will meet clients' intimate and personal needs and maintain their privacy and dignity at all times. You may be expected to provide 1:1 support to a number of service users both in and out of the Centre. You will act as a Key Worker for some individuals, maintaining appropriate written records, communicating with parents and carers, and reporting any concerns or issues promptly to supervisory staff or management, advising them of any change to care arrangements for service users. If you hold a driving licence, you will drive the Centre minibus; if you do not, you will act as a passenger escort to meet transport requirements. You will administer medication in accordance with medical advice and service procedures, observing best practice. You must be aware of and comply with relevant legislation, National Standards and Codes of Conduct for Social Care staff. Who are we looking for? You must have a good general education demonstrating literacy and numeracy. If you do not already have a care qualification you will be expected to undertake training. Teamwork is essential; you must build positive working relationships with service users, families, colleagues and other professionals. A caring and cooperative attitude is essential; some experience of providing care is desirable. You should be reliable, consistent, calm and able to adapt to the needs of the service user. You should demonstrate openness, honesty, integrity and respect for service users. You should be observant and able to anticipate service user needs.
