The role is focused on proactively managing all TMC infrastructure, ensuring it is maintained to the highest standard, meets legal compliance, and is delivered on budget. You will also line‑manage the local facilities team and oversee the control and management of any facilities contractors attending the site.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain all TMC assets, oversee repairs, and coordinate call‑outs using the local Facility Team and specialist contractors under robust SLAs.Oversee Civils and Buildings, Fixed Plant, IT & Security Systems, Mechanical & Electrical Systems, Specialist Equipment, Permanent Way Systems, and Soft Services.Ensure compliance with Asset/Systems and Services Law.Lead and manage the local Facilities Team, setting a hands‑on example.Act as the Responsible Person for L8 Legionella Management.Update and manage the contractual Major Maintenance and Overhaul plan using the chosen maintenance management system.Maintain daily communication with Facility Planner, local TMC management, contractors, spare parts & materials teams, and when required customers and stakeholders.Input maintenance management system data to record all facilities maintenance and repair work for audit purposes.Control the Facility Budget for the TMC, produce monthly finance reports with the finance team.Collaborate with local materials and stores teams to manage all facilities spare parts and tooling.Produce weekly, monthly, and periodic reports in line with KPIs, contractual requirements, and legal compliance.Lead and support facilities audits from Business Assurance, external customers, and regulatory bodies such as ORR and BSI.Assist the Regional Facilities Manager and Procurement/Contracts team with specifications, tender documentation, and quotations for goods/services.Manage contractors performing maintenance, repair or call‑outs; review work package plans, task briefing sheets, RAMS, and carry out internal risk assessments.Oversee all TMC Winterisation and Summarisation tasks to ensure a safe working environment.Essential RequirementsNVQ3 or equivalent electrical or mechanical craft apprenticeship (or relevant experience/qualification).BIFM Facilities Management qualification (or equivalent).Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Certificate in Environmental Workplace Safety and Standards.IOSH certification in Managing Safely.Experience managing small teams of staff and contractors.DesirableFull Member of BIFM.Member of CIOB, BICS, or relevant legionella and responsible person certification.Experience in Permanent Way Asset Management and Network Rail Standards.Previous experience with routine building maintenance in an industrial environment, including M+E, HVAC, Civil Engineering, and IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations.Experience with Powered Plant, Fork Lift Truck, MEWP, and safety‑critical machinery maintenance.Intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).Schmatics reading and electronic circuit diagram interpretation.Contractor Management and workforce resource implementation.Leadership, contract negotiation, and project management skills.Behavioural RequirementsLead by example with hands‑on experience.Sound knowledge and implementation of rules, regulations, and policies.Good written and verbal communication skills.Professional representation of HITACHI RAIL at all times.Team player who can interface effectively with all levels of personnel within and outside the company.What We OfferCompetitive salary.Potential annual performance‑related bonus.25 days holiday.Pension scheme with contributions up to 9%.Private medical insurance.Personal Accident insurance.Group Income protection.Group Life Insurance.Employee Assistance Programme.At HITACHI RAIL, we welcome and value differences in background, age, gender, sexuality, family status, disability, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, and world view.
