Occupational Therapist - AHP Join to apply for the Occupational Therapist - AHP role at NHS Ayrshire & Arran. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million. This role is based predominantly within our acute assessment wards at Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) but may also support other areas within the service, including the frailty unit at GRI and the rehab wards and ARC at Lightburn and Stobhill Hospitals. The post holder will be responsible for assessment, treatment planning, rehabilitation and complex discharge planning for older people, predominately over the age of 75, who present with multiple pathologies including Frailty, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, and falls. Older People’s Service in the North Sector has been selected to participate in the Health Improvement Scotland (HIS) Focus on Frailty Programme 25/26. The post holder will contribute to this programme, as well as to the evaluation and development of the occupational therapy service within their designated area, in the context of clinical governance, clinical effectiveness and national policies. The post is 5 days over 7, delivering a seven‑day service to the frailty unit and acute assessment wards at GRI. Responsibilities • Conduct comprehensive assessments of older adults. • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans. • Provide rehabilitation services and facilitate complex discharge planning. • Contribute to the Health Improvement Scotland Focus on Frailty Programme and other departmental initiatives. • Support clinical governance and contribute to best practice development. Qualifications Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy. Registered with the HCPC. Must hold or gain a practice education qualification. Up‑to‑date mandatory and statutory training record (e.g. Fire, Moving and Handling). Proven specialist skills and knowledge in OT for older people, gained through specialist courses and multidisciplinary team experience.
