Detailed job description and main responsibilities Provide a Specialty Doctor Ophthalmology service for day cases and out-patients, with continuing responsibility for the patients, their care and for the effective functioning of the department Provide a specialist lacrimal and oculoplastic expertise for the Trust to serve the local population Carry out teaching duties as required and to take an active part in the education programme of junior medical staff, nurses and AHPs Provide supervision and training to junior hospital doctors Participate in clinical audit, evidence-based practice and clinical governance within the department Participate in regional sub-speciality audit and clinical governance to participate actively in continuing professional development (CPD) Person specification Qualifications MB ChB or equivalent Full registration with the GMC ALS or equivalent MRCOphth or equivalent Experience Able to carry our BLS to a standard that accords with the UK Resuscitation Council guidelines Experience of Ophthalmic surgery Experiences of AMD services Experience of Diabetic Screening services Completed audit projects Skills Good communicator and team player Ability to keep good clinical records Ability to take a clinical history and examine patients commensurate with a mid-grade member of medical staff Teaching and training experience Leadership roles – clinical or management Additional Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role i.e. with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary and without hesitation Our Trust prefers candidates to submit applications online.
