Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Our teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

Key Responsibilities

Key tasks of the job:

  1. Customer quality complaint handling – Using a 'TEam' approach, drive and engage cross functional teams to conduct 8D responses including root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventative measures and validation of effectiveness for implementation of cost-effective solutions (focus on repeat products / failure modes). Liaise with appropriate departments, ensuring deadlines are met & ensure timely 8D release to customer via TE Complaints Handling System.
  2. Supporting Scrap Reduction Initiatives and promote / drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the plant using proactive tools such as PDCA, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Error Proofing (Poka-Yoke), Measurement System Analysis, and Advance Product and Quality Planning (APQP).
  3. Manage deviations and concessions with the customer where required and provide documentation to allow sign-off.
  4. Support external 3rd party Certification Body (CB) audits and internal audit program ensuring effective close out of any Non-Conformances and Opportunities for Improvement.
  5. Act as Value Stream lead for Notice of Escape (NOE), escalated or high impact customer events and formal customer improvement programs.
  6. Provide support on New Product Introduction. Implementation through to completion (final product approval).
  7. Ensure the applicability of current quality policies, procedures, and objectives, staying informed about the latest updates / modifications related to relevant standards and regulations.
  8. Support Value Stream Change Management activity. Support and ensure adherence to procedure.
  9. Conduct applicable on-site Quality training. Mandatory and developed.
  10. Communicate and support Incoming Quality (IQE) / Supplier Development (SDE) personnel to coordinate inspection and action of non-conforming supplied products within Value Stream.
  11. Be an active participant and advocate of the TE Connectivity's Lean methodology (TEOA), interact with cross-functional team members. Identify gaps and opportunities and drive continuous improvement throughout the value streams.
  12. Must be able to work under flexible working schedules, including extended working hours as required.
  13. Ability to travel to customers, factories and/or supplier locations as needed (estimated to be less than 10%).
Qualifications

Qualifications, training and experiences required:

  1. Ideally Degree or HNC in either Industrial, Material Science, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Quality Assurance and/or minimum 2 years' experience at a manufacturing plant environment in a Quality or Engineering role gained in an aerospace, military or automotive environment.
  2. Aluminium Extrusion or anodising or harnessing or moulding knowledge advantageous.
  3. Technical by nature with a practical hands-on approach, with ability to read many types of technical drawings and specifications.
  4. Experience of quality planning and implementation of quality tools (Histogram, Pareto, MSA, PFMEA, Controls plans).
  5. Problem solving skills using 8D methodology (3x5-Why, Is-Is Not, Ishikawa diagrams and similar assessment tools).
  6. Strong team spirit, ability to influence and drive cross functional teamwork, ability to work well with internal and external customers, and with other cultures.
  7. Organised with high degree of motivation and self-initiative, managing multiple tasks, and can adapt to changing priorities, accomplishing them in a timely manner.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Proficient using MS Office (Can be trained).
