The Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA will contribute to whole‑class learning, lead small groups and provide one‑to‑one support where needed, using strong safeguarding awareness and classroom management skills. DUTIES Whole Class Support: assisting teachers in the delivery of engaging lessons Small Group Teaching: leading targeted learning sessions to support progress One‑to‑One Support: delivering personalised interventions for individual pupils Safeguarding Awareness: maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment Classroom Management: promoting positive behaviour and learning routines Planning Support: preparing resources and contributing to lesson activities Assessment Support: monitoring pupil understanding and feeding back to teachers Pastoral Support: encouraging pupil confidence, motivation and well‑being Team Collaboration: working effectively with colleagues across the organisation CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL HLTA Qualification: recognised Higher Level Teaching Assistant status School‑Based Experience: previous experience in a primary or similar setting Safeguarding Knowledge: understanding of safeguarding responsibilities Positive Attitude: adaptable, flexible and willing to take on new challenges Professional Conduct: ability to act with integrity at all times Team Working: collaborative approach with the ability to work independently DESIRABLE SEN Support Experience: experience with additional learning needs Intervention Delivery: background in leading small‑group programmes Curriculum Knowledge: familiarity with primary curriculum frameworks BENEFITS Friendly and sociable colleagues Enrolment in one of the UK’s largest public sector pension schemes Staff membership rates to the modern Leisure Centre A tax efficient Cycle‑to‑Work scheme through salary sacrifice The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
