Learning Support Assistant Location: The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3SB Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata) Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday) Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only Start: November 2025 UK applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship. About The Role The Learning Support Assistant will work specifically with individual pupils who are placed at the school, requiring 1:1 staff support. They may experience multiple social, emotional and learning challenges, such as speech and sound disorders, disordered expressive language skills, delayed understanding of language, concentration and attention difficulties, challenging behaviour and work avoidance behaviours. The role is predominantly educational but also includes supporting families, carers and the wider community, and working closely with agencies such as Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapy Service, Social Communication Disorder Assessment Service, Early Intervention Team and an Educational Psychologist. 4‑Day Working Week Trial The Wenlock School is participating in a 4‑Day Working Week (4DWW) trial. You may work one day less each week (or an equivalent number of hours) while still receiving full-time pay, subject to successful completion of the probation period. General Responsibilities Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people. Work in accordance with professional practice, statutory and legal requirements and the policies of The Wenlock School. Take on specific tasks related to the day‑to‑day administration and organisation of the school. Take responsibility for specific areas of work which will be reviewed annually and negotiated within the performance management cycle. Take on any additional responsibilities which may be determined from time to time. Requirements Previous experience working with SEND schools. Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English.
