Gemmology Rocks – Gemmological Business Manager We are a small entrepreneurial company looking for an energetic, entrepreneurial individual to support Owner and Founder Kerry. The role offers an opportunity to evolve the business with no direct replacement of the previous manager. Key Responsibilities Effectively manage personal workload, projects and a small team. Screen, sort and identify loose diamonds and coloured gemstones commercially. Appraise, value and price coloured gemstones and diamonds for wholesale. Manage inventory: identify, create, price, photograph, stock‑take, order‑pick and prepare stock for trade shows. Administer business functions: create purchase notes, invoices, shipping records, etc. Create content for Facebook, Instagram and marketing emails. Assist in planning and executing client events. Required Skills & Experience Strong entrepreneurial spirit and desire to work in a socially responsible business. Experience in commercial gem trading and gemmological education. Ability to work independently and take initiative without micromanagement. Excellent customer‑experience orientation, adaptable communication style for customers in jewellery, pawnbroking, auction, and private sectors. Competency Requirements Identify diamonds, including treatments and synthetics – required accuracy 99%+. Grade and price diamonds in wholesale market – required accuracy 99%+. Identify gemstones (common commercial, unusual, rare) with required accuracy 99%+ and appropriate speed. Grade and price coloured stones in wholesale market – required accuracy 99%+. Desirable Qualifications Gemmological and diamond diploma from Gem‑A. Graduate Gemologist diploma from GIA. Teaching qualification, ideally specialising in adult education. What We Offer Competitive salary £30,000–36,000 PA gross, dependent on skill. Location: Maidstone, UK (office‑based, requires travel across UK).
