Consultant Physician in Respiratory MedicineWe have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.Our client currently are proud to be rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission for the quality of our medical care and hyper‑acute services. As one of the cardiac, stroke and vascular centres for the area they provide traditional teaching hospital specialist services whilst being able to maintain the philosophy and friendliness that former District General Hospitals are renowned for. The thoracic medicine department at the trust includes a dedicated five‑bed cystic fibrosis unit, which is one of the largest in the UK, and an eight‑bed medical acute dependency unit providing non‑invasive ventilation.The successful appointee will be asked to undertake various duties, which will include: inpatient care as part of the respiratory mega firm, looking after approximately 50 inpatients with seven other colleagues. The consultants currently rotate on and off the wards, doing a ward block and weeks on HDU, during the ward block (respiratory ward and the HDU); we provide daily consultant input, in‑reach into the medical assessment unit and emergency department and the provision of inpatient consultations and telephone advice to GPs for admission avoidance, will provide both inpatient and outpatient care of general respiratory and general internal medicine patients; supervise care of the patients on the medical High Dependency Unit 1 week in 7, as well as supporting the team with the bronchoscopy lists and pleural procedures, an on‑call commitment to cover the general medical weekday rota (1pm to 9pm and nonresident overnight) on a 1 in 20 basis and respiratory weekend days (8am - 5pm) 1 weekend in 8 & will be expected to have commitment to teaching junior doctors, nurses – including specialist nurses and medical students.Our client are based in a beautiful suburb borough on the outskirts of London with close proximity to big international airports, along with access to highly reputable public and private schools within the area.Additional InformationWill consider full time or part time10 P.A'sPrestigious NHS TrustA well supported & friendly teamMust have GMC RegistrationOutstanding Schools within public and private sectorsThis is a Consultant in Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine vacancy.
