Responsible for inpatient elective and emergency work, supporting the surgical team whilst on call. Responsibilities Work under supervision of a consultant within the General Surgery Unit Provide inpatient elective and emergency care Support surgical team whilst on call Eligible for training with Upper GI and Colorectal teams (clinic, theatre, on‑call) Person Specification Essential qualifications and knowledge: MB ChB or equivalent Full GMC Registration Essential experience: Familiarity with the UK NHS structure Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure Concerned and caring attitude towards patients Personal attributes: Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to quality care Desirable attributes: Involvement in clinical audit Ability to organise own CPD Enthusiasm in teaching medical students and nurses Specific requirements: Work shifts, on call and flexible hours.
