Average of 37.5 hours/week across a 7 day working rota (with a maximum weekend commitment of 1 in 4). Main duties of the job To be considered you will need to be able to proactively engage with clinicians and the wider specialty multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver high quality medicines optimisation, governance and safety initiatives; supporting patient flow for both in‑patient and out‑patient areas, while working effectively as a key member of the team in these dynamic clinical specialties. Working closely with clinicians, nursing staff and the directorate management team, you will ensure the delivery of evidence‑based, safe, cost‑effective pharmaceutical care to patients treated within the specialty, whether as inpatients or as outpatients. You will work closely with a team of rotational pharmacists and medicines management technicians to lead the clinical pharmacy service to the inpatient ID ward and to the Critical Care unit. You will also work closely with the department of clinical microbiology to support the wider aims of the trust antimicrobial stewardship activities. In addition, you will contribute to the strategic development of the clinical pharmacy service provided to the relevant divisions by supporting the Advanced Clinical Lead Pharmacists and the Deputy Chief Pharmacist – Clinical services and the Clinical Director of Pharmacy. Job responsibilities The attached cover letter and job description give you more information and you can add to this by contacting Person Specification Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent Qualification Independent Prescriber with appropriate annotation on GPhC register or willing to undertake appropriate training to become an active independent prescriber Commitment and evidence of professional updating and mandatory continuing professional development portfolio Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Great Britain (RPSGB) and / or Faculty status Formal management and / or leadership qualification MSc Clinical Pharmacy Member of United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association and / or specialist group(s) Experience Comprehensive experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner including a solid grounding in a broad range of clinical specialties. Extensive hospital pharmacy experience post Diploma Broad knowledge of therapeutics and application to clinical practice Experience in working directly with clinicians, the wider multidisciplinary team, patients and the public Evidence of ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options to patients and healthcare staff Education and training experience including supervision and appraisal, with feedback, of junior staff and students Evidence of involvement in writing guidelines Substantial post registration experience of UK hospital pharmacy practice Have recent clinical pharmacy experience in specialty in particular around the use of systemic antifungal agents in complex infections Leading specialty representation at MDTs / M&M meetings etc. including delegating actions to colleagues and monitoring outcomes / follow up Leading specialty representation at a Trust level in relation to guideline or protocol development. Experience working with clinical trials and knowledge of the regulations relating to them Experience of directorate pharmacy services and / or writing drug usage reports Experience of managing a team Management experience and / or experience of undertaking appraisals Knowledge, Skills and Training High standard of oral and written (including report writing) communication skills with attention to detail Able to demonstrate good leadership skills Good and broad understanding of current hospital pharmacy practice and future direction of travel Confidence in being able to discuss clinical guidelines and patient management plans with senior clinicians and provide clinical challenge as required Demonstrates advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement IT skills and knowledge of the digital medicines agenda Interest in expanding knowledge and self‑development Evidence of involvement in pharmacy practice research and/or audit Publication of research in a peer‑reviewed journal Presentation of abstract on pharmacy practice research at a regional or national conference Demonstration of using output from audit or service evaluation to re‑design / optimise services. This includes unsocial hours, weekend and bank holiday working Able to proactively support the Trust's staff engagement and well‑being agenda Must have ability to travel between sites Ability to adhere to policies, procedures and standards Must have ability to respond to urgent on‑call requests within 30mins (including travel time); staff living further away from the Trust than this are expected to arrange overnight accommodation at their own cost.
