You will be joining our existing team of pharmacists and technicians supported by the Principal Pharmacist for Division 1. Applicants must be registered with the GPhC, have a broad range of hospital pharmacy experience, and have or be working towards a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent). An independent prescribing qualification is desirable, however support and funding will be provided to the post-holder if they do not already hold this qualification. If you are interested in the role and believe you hold the qualities we require, then please apply Main duties of the job To provide an expert level of clinical pharmacy services to wards and departments caring for adult patients within the T&O Directorate. To lead specialist clinical pharmacy practice for T&O services and be responsible for the delivery, development, evaluation, and co-ordination of clinical pharmacy services in line with the objectives of the division and the RWT pharmacy strategy. To be responsible for all aspects of medicines management to optimise patients' care involving the use and re-use of medication. Will work at New Cross Hospital (Trauma/acute/emergency) and Cannock Chase Hospital (elective) sites. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The postholder will provide the following to the wards and departments within the T&O Directorate (not exhaustive): Provide and manage a specialist clinical pharmacy service to the wards and departments within the T&O Directorate. To provide expert pharmaceutical advice regarding T&O patients who have complex drug regimes, polypharmacy and medicines adverse effect. Promote the safe, appropriate, and economic use of medications both within the pharmacy department and on the wards. To provide clinical and directorate support to the T&O directorate. To develop and deliver innovative services that help improve the T&O patient journey and outcome. Implement local and national guidelines where appropriate e.g. NICE. To support the Trusts Medication Safety Officer and Pharmacy Governance lead with the medicine’s optimisation and governance agenda. Participate in the training of pharmacists, ward-based technicians, undergraduate students, doctors and nurses. Take part in extended hours, weekends, and bank holiday out of hours services as required by departmental rotas. Person specification Experience as a clinical pharmacist in a range of specialties within an acute hospital environment Experience of working as part of the wider Pharmacy team within T&O and/or surgery Experience of project management and leadership skills Examples of how you have completed continued professional development and integrated theses into your current practice To have or be working towards a postgraduate clinical diploma or equivalent qualification Independent Prescriber qualification or working towards this qualification (score 2 if in progress) Ability to demonstrate specialist knowledge of pharmacy in the context of T&O Any experience of wider cross sector working e.g. virtual wards, primary care, prescribing support team Any interests/hobbies that provide you with professional and personal qualities that you can bring to the role; please describe how these benefit you in your role as a pharmacist Flexible Working - As a major employer in the Black Country and West Birmingham region we are committed to supporting all employees to achieve a healthy work life balance.
