Assistant Professor in Environmental History Position ID: 111009-1125. Full‑time, indefinite basis, starting 1 September 2026. About the Role Teaching responsibilities include lecturing, seminar teaching, essay tutorials, office hours, marking, and attendance monitoring. You will supervise final‑year dissertations and contribute to MA teaching. You will act as personal tutor for a group of undergraduate students, providing pastoral support. Research expectation in Environmental History or a related field. Themes such as oceanic history, energy history, animal history, or non‑western, indigenous, and decolonial methodologies are particularly welcome. Teaching Modules HI113 Europe in the Making HI153 Making of the Modern World HI2K2 Imperial Natures: Environments and Empires from c. 1450 to the Present HI2K9 Historical Research Encouraged to propose additional modules aligned with your expertise. Requirements PhD awarded by 1 September 2026. Expertise in Environmental History with demonstrable, fresh, and exciting research. Ability to contribute to the university, faculty, and department’s interdisciplinary research strategies. Desirable: experience with oceanic, energy, animal, or non‑western/decolonial approaches.
