The trailblazing adaptive management plan sets out how we will manage tidal flood risk in London and Thames Estuary throughout the 21st century.• We enable the Environment Agency to be a leader in the provision of sustainable infrastructure• We support adoption of innovative approaches to achieve sustainable outcomes.• We ensure environmental compliance and sustainability conformance• We identify and manage environmental risk on our projects.• We identify and deliver environmental enhancements to create a better place.• Our input includes assurance at a strategic and project level.You will work collaboratively to deliver ground-breaking and award-winning work, leaving a legacy for the future. This will be achieved in collaboration with a network of stakeholders. These include internal departments, statutory bodies, delivery partners, businesses, and communities.Your approach and positivity will motivate and inspire the team to achieve successful multi-benefit schemes which enhance the environments and communities we work within.Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.The teamWe are the National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability (NEAS) team, part of Major Project and Programme Delivery. Our friendly, supportive, and inclusive team puts sustainability at the heart of decision-making across our Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management programme. We oversee the effective management of environmental compliance and sustainability conformance across the TEAM2100 programme.We are comprised of Environmental Project Managers, Landscape and Heritage specialists as well as support and leadership colleagues.Experience/skills requiredYou will have (essential):• An environmental background, ideally with qualifications and/or experience in an environmental discipline.• Great communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and partners.• Experience in collaborating with others to deliver environmental benefits and manage environmental risk and be able to communicate this effectively.• Experience of co-ordinating statutory Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), writing or reviewing Environmental Statements and co-ordinating Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA).• A good understanding of different technical areas of expertise, such as sustainability, habitats regulations, biodiversity net gain, natural capital, planning or environmental design.• Programme and/or project management skills.• Experience in mentoring and supporting colleagues with varying degrees of experience.Desirable:• Writing or reviewing SEA environmental reports would be an advantage.• Membership of relevant professional environmental institute.• Knowledge of flood and coastal risk asset management.Contact and additional informationBenefits include generous pension and leave. flexible working practices.
