OverviewThis 8.75 PA consultant nephrologist post supports the clinical and academic programme in chronic kidney disease, community‑based care, renal transplantation, and dialysis across North Central London. The role includes inpatient and outpatient care at Royal Free Hospital, Tottenham Kidney and Dialysis Centre, and St Pancras Kidney Care Centre, with a 1:9 nephrology on‑call commitment. It also involves virtual CKD triage, joint leadership of departmental training and education, and full participation in CPD and educational activities.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and perform kidney biopsies, post‑transplant care, and haemodialysis.Lead the Trust's expanding home haemodialysis programme.Provide care for a dialysis cohort of 50–60 patients, including weekly clinics and monthly MDTs, and manage a cohort of transplant patients.Offer virtual kidney care via e‑Referral and online advice portals.Participate in the 1:9 consultant nephrology and transplant on‑call rota at Royal Free Hospital, including morning handover, daily ward rounds for ~30 renal inpatients, discharge planning and review of new admissions.Perform weekend work and out‑of‑hours advice; routine clinics are cancelled during on‑call weeks.Support improvements in dialysis access pathways.Attend weekly X‑ray, renal pathology, and academic meetings.Contribute to infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, and departmental training as joint education lead.Supervise specialty trainees, clinical scientists, teaching junior doctors, medical students, and staff.Participate in undergraduate teaching, clinical audit, quality improvement, service development, policy review, CPD, annual appraisal and revalidation.ScheduleProvisional annualised job plan: 8.75 PA per week, based on a 42‑week year (52 weeks minus 6 for annual leave, 2 for study leave and 2 for bank holidays). Includes a 1:9 on‑call commitment.
