Electrical Estimator – Reactive Maintenance (Helpdesk Team)
My client is a leading provider of electrical maintenance and reactive solutions across the retail and hospitality sectors.
With an annual department turnover of approximately £4M and a high-volume workload, our helpdesk and engineering teams work in a fast-paced environment delivering time-critical electrical maintenance nationwide.
We are now looking for an Electrical Estimator to join our busy helpdesk department and support the delivery of accurate, timely quotations and smooth operational workflow.
Monday – Friday / 8.30am – 5.30pm
Role Overview
This is not a traditional electrical estimator role. The position is embedded within our reactive maintenance helpdesk, supporting a high-volume, low-value quotation environment.
You will typically produce 20-30 quotes per day, ranging from £450 to £20,000, primarily based on time and materials.
This role requires excellent communication skills, strong electrical knowledge, and the ability to work under pressure while managing multiple moving parts.
You’ll play an essential role in ensuring quotes are accurate, profitable, and delivered within client SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
Produce accurate and timely time & materials-based electrical quotations (approximately 20–30 per day).
Liaise with field engineers to ensure all quoted details, materials, and labour requirements are correct and complete.
Work closely with the Maintenance Controller to deliver accepted works, ensuring labour, materials, and scheduling align with client requirements.
Manage the profit & loss (P&L) performance of quoted jobs, ensuring works are delivered within agreed margins and service levels.
Support the Department Head in delivering the overall reactive maintenance service for SEE Service Ltd.
Maintain excellent communication with clients as needed, including attending client meetings where required.
Ensure all estimates comply with internal procedures, client SLAs, and industry standards.
Attending site surveys when required, pricing and delivering own projects using SEE labour resource.
Participate in the team on-call rota (telephone support only) approximately 1 week in every 5 for out-of-hours assistance.
Skills & Experience Required
Electrical background/qualification (e.g., electrician, improver, or strong technical understanding).
Experience within maintenance, FM, electrical contracting, or a helpdesk-based environment is desirable.
Strong ability to read, interpret, and validate engineer reports and electrical information.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple quotes and deadlines simultaneously.
Good commercial awareness and understanding of job costing and P&L.
Confident IT user (helpdesk systems, Excel, quoting tools, email).
Driving licence and own car preferred but not essential.
Salary & Package
£40,000
Up to 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
Pension and company benefits.
Supportive team structure with development and progression opportunities.
On-call rota (approximately 1 in 5 weeks)
