Teaching Assistant 1-1 SEN Support The Staffordshire Schools Multi Academy Trust is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to provide specific one‑to‑one support for a Year 3 pupil with a diagnosis of Autism (ASD), alongside delivering small group interventions for the wider class. Key Responsibilities 1:1 Support: Support a Year 3 pupil with ASD in accessing learning, managing transitions, implementing sensory breaks, and utilizing visual timetables to reduce anxiety. Academic Support: Deliver daily 1:1 and small group sessions in Phonics, Literacy, and Numeracy following the teacher’s planning. Social & Emotional: Support the pupil’s social interaction with peers during break times and group work, modeling positive play and communication. Interventions: Lead small intervention groups for other Year 3 pupils to close gaps in reading and maths. Collaboration: Work closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt resources to suit the child’s specific learning style. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about inclusive education. You should have: Experience working with children with Autism and an understanding of sensory needs and potential triggers. Confidence in delivering Phonics sessions (knowledge of Little Wandle Phonics is desirable). Strong numeracy and literacy skills to support Key Stage 2 curriculum content. The ability to build a strong, trusting bond with a specific child while maintaining professional boundaries. A team‑player attitude, essential for working in a small school environment. Hours are 25 per week during term time only, to be worked 9 am – 12:15 M‑F, and 3 afternoons per week 12:45 – 3:15 pm. This is a fixed‑term role linked to an EHCP, currently due to end in July 2028.
