Ofgem is looking for a Chief Financial Advisor to lead our regulatory finance strategy, influencing multibillion‑pound decisions that will shape the energy sector for decades to come. This permanent senior‑leadership role gives you the opportunity to directly shape the regulatory and investment landscape of the UK’s energy infrastructure. Working at the intersection of corporate finance, energy policy and regulation, you will be steering one of the most high‑profile areas of Ofgem’s work. Together with the Deputy Director for Regulatory Finance, you’ll jointly lead a diverse team of multidisciplinary professionals and play a key role in securing fair, robust, and investable outcomes for consumers and markets alike. You will advise board‑level stakeholders, engage with industry and investors, and shape complex financial policy. Your responsibilities include overseeing investor relations strategy, actively contributing to the FRC leadership team, and providing high‑quality strategic and technical financial advice that informs GEMA and the Executive Committee. We are looking for someone with inspiring leadership credentials, coupled with deep knowledge of corporate finance, capital markets and price control frameworks. You’ll bring the authority to advise board‑level stakeholders, the credibility to engage with industry and investors, and the analytical depth to shape complex financial policy. Person specification Track record of successful leadership of a finance team in the public or private sector with extensive experience of managing and developing diverse teams and ways of working. (Lead) Previous leadership experience in economic Regulation, specifically corporate finance (equity and debt) – for example in the financial sector, as managing consultant/partner, strategic or financial analyst, and/or economist; likely with high‑quality postgraduate finance qualifications. (Lead) Strong knowledge and experience of regulatory finance, including setting and operating price controls, cost of capital, regulatory funding models, treatment of tax, depreciation and capital adequacy requirements Strong quantitative and qualitative financial analytical skills, analysis of complex situations and policy decisions; Proven experience of providing high‑quality strategic and technical financial advice at board level Assessment and management of risk in complex projects against demanding deadlines, and creating and influencing diverse networks of people Behaviours Communicating and Influencing Leadership Seeing the Big Picture Seniority level Director Employment type Full‑time Job function Management, Finance, and Strategy/Planning #J-18808-Ljbffr
