Position Title Activity Coordinator – NHS (Part‑time, Band 3) Location Ebor Ward, Foss Park Hospital, Haxby Road, York, YO32 9XW Job Overview We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Activity Coordinator who holds a relevant level 3 or above qualification. The post holder is responsible for planning and providing appropriate activities to meet the therapeutic, social, and recreational needs of clients at Foss Park Hospital Adult Mental Health Acute wards. Key Responsibilities Plan and facilitate a range of activities for clients with varying needs, some of which may be complex. Takes the lead in developing and formulating diversional/recreational activity programmes for individuals and groups in collaboration with occupational therapy and nursing staff. Co‑facilitate groups with HCA’s, nurses, occupational therapy staff, fitness instructors, and third‑sector agencies where appropriate. Provide information and practical advice to clients and carers within scope of own competency, and to the wider multidisciplinary team. Promote the value of engagement in social interaction and recreational activity for clients and carers. Show commitment to and participate in quality‑improvement activities. Qualifications Relevant level 3 or above qualification in health and/or social care, communication, teaching, numeracy, or literacy Level 2 (or equivalent). Level 3 qualification in health and social care if not already in place (desired). Experience Experience of paid, voluntary or personal work with people with learning disability or mental health issues. Experience of supporting engagement of others in activity. Skills and Knowledge Good communication skills, written and verbal. Good observation skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Ability to plan and implement activities. Ability to manage own time. Ability to engage and motivate others. Awareness of the needs of service users with mental health conditions or learning disabilities. Awareness of the needs of individuals from diverse social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Understanding of the value and benefit of activity to mental wellbeing.
