Base Pay Range This role can be based at any of our office locations: London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, York, Glasgow. At ORR we have adopted hybrid working and are currently expected to work from a workplace location for a minimum of two days per week or 40%. In SPR, we employ 40 policy & regulatory professionals across three teams focused on different aspects of rail oversight: access & international regulation, passenger protection and consumer rights, and strategic regulatory reform & governance. The consumer team aims to support a better service for passengers. We do that by ensuring that regulatory policy and expectations remain fit for purpose, holding industry to account, recognising good practice so that it can be shared more widely, and taking prompt regulatory action when required. We focus on ticket retailing, passenger information, accessibility, and complaints and compensation. As part of its plans for rail reform, the Government is intending to transfer most of these responsibilities to a new passenger watchdog, grown out of Transport Focus. Where functions transfer, roles may transfer to the new body. Timescales are dependent on passage of the Rail Reform Bill through Parliament. The focus for this role is expected to be on accessibility, where our aim is to enable older and disabled people to travel with confidence by rail. You will drive forward a programme of policy and compliance projects; use evidence to identify, prioritise and tackle issues; build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders; and make change happen to create better outcomes for passengers.
